Who is heading down to this from R7?

Weather looks good and having got car out for first time in 4 1/2 months and checked t.p.s, fluids etc. then a 20 mile run out I feel that a longer trip is called for.

Hi Andrew

What time are you thinking of setting off (are you planning on getting there for 8.00a.m.)
and where are you getting on the M1, I'm in Halifax so its M62/M1 for me

Steve T.

Yes I am planning to be there for 0800 to ensure POCGB parking.

If weather is good ( i.e. a lot better than today ) will be coming on Jct 37 but could meet at 39 ( Cedar Court Hotel is just off roundabout with good parking ) - any thoughts as to time - there is a long and average speed camera'd 50 mph section on M1 at the moment?

Anyone else?

Wooley Edge 0630 it is - if I'm not there by 0635 leave without me - gritter has just passed the house though not in action - not a good sign.

Hopefully they are just playing around and earning some overtime!

Look forward to seing you,

Andrew W.

Well it really WAS cold and black at 0540 this morning to the point where I thought that it was really stupid going out in it! Having met Mark and Steve at Woolley the run down was uneventful other than -5 being seen as an outside temp. which meant that windscreen washers froze. It turned in to a lovely sunny ( if very cool ) day and an early coffee and enormous bacon roll put us in the mood for looking at the assembled cars.

There was a really good turn out of Porsches/ Alfas/ Lancias/ TVR/ etc. etc. Nice to see some old friends and make some new ones.

The track is in a dire state and it's going to cost a fortune to sort out but worth it.

Glad I went,

Andrew W.

Me and my wife would like to thank all the members at Donington today for making us feel welcome as this was our first meet and would especially like to think Andrew & Steve from our region and look forward to many more good days out.

Andrew, nice to meet you earlier today.. great choice of car too.. 993 in silver.. the fastest colour..

Donington should do a share issue in my opinion and give the free track day to everyone who buys one.

Cheers
Steve

Agreed right car right colour - great minds and all that.

On reflection I think that the amount of work that needs to be done to get the place up and running MAY not be too great, and to some extent will depend on what up grading may be thought desirable. Neverthless the cost will still be substantial and I suppose it will revolve around the appetite for the task that Wheatcroft junior may have.

I am a little surprised that we haven't heard rumours of other circuit owners looking at the proposition - Dr. Palmer has always had a keen eye for a good opportunity and has always deliverd the goods.

We shall see - are you going to Oulton on Fri.?

Andrew W.

Mark

Glad you enjoyed - look forward to seeing you at club night - and on Wolds Wander 23/5/10 ?

Andrew W.

Andrew,

would love to make it to Oulton, it is one of my favourite tracks. Sadly work demands mean I can't. Have a great day though. I will be at 993 question time on Sunday so see you there if you are there. I'll be the one at the back asking the newbie questions!

I hope junior has the appetite and keeps it going. My first track days were there so holds a lot of nostalgia for me. To the novice eye (ihave not repaired any race tracks before!) 1.5m should buy a lot of improvements.

cheers
Steve
