Well as some of you will know my trials and tribulations with my 1982 911SC. Last year was spent rebuilding the engine (over £10,000 in the end). Well this year started well with me still wearing in the engine. No sooner had I done enough miles to take it in for its first service and it started snowing. This was Sun 08 Apr (I think). I was on my way down to Southampton on an empty (well nearly) M3 at 07:30. Well I found why it is suggested not to drive a 911 in snow!
As the snow got heavier I decided to slow down and change from the fast lane - BIG Mistake!!!! As I changed lanes the back decided that it wanted to be the front and away we go snow skiing in a 911. All I could at this stage was hope that we would do a 360 and come to rest, but I should be so lucky. The bank moved towards me and I hit it on the nose and then the back end[]. Luckily no other vehicle was involved and there were no barriers.
After a quick inspection of the car and passenger we decided it was safe to continue on our journey.
Well I took the old girl into the mechanic and we started pricing up the repair. This is when the insurance company was involved. The end result is that my lovely 1982 911SC will probably be written off[][][][]
We are hoping to retain the engine at least. This way we can either sell it or find a new shell.
So does anyone want to buy a newly rebuilt engine?
I'll try and get a couple of pics uploaded here and you can see how little damage it takes to write my baby off.
