Don't you just hate when that happens?

Yesterday I made a trip to London (by train, 4 hours, leaving at 3:40pm, that was nice. Not) and I got back late and tired last night. I woke up this morning to find I inadvertently bought another MX5 [:(]

Technically it's a Eunos Roadster, but apart from the square rear plate and a couple of Mazda optional spoilers it's the twin of the one I already had, even down to the dark grey 5-spoke wheels with polished rim: Black paint? Check. Black leather seats? Check. Black hood? Check. Sticky front numberplate? Check. You get the idea.

So, why have I now got two? Air-con and electric windows are nice, but a turbo, standalone management, mahoosive intercooler, adjustable suspension, LSD and power output in excess of 100% increased over standard were the killers. Unlike the standard one boy does it go sideways on demand [8D]

Insurance premium increase for an import with loads of mods over a standard UK car? That'll be £29 a year to you, Mr Coull. [:D][:D][:D]. The only potential downsides I see are that it still has standard brakes (the small ones from the 1600 [:(]) and it has an exhaust note that would give WUF a run for its money, so I might need to address those points (plus a roll bar) before it becomes my 2006 track toy.

Anybody want to buy a nice, standard, black, UK 1.8 MX5?

You are sooooo clumsy. [8|]

One of the mags used to speak highly the BBR MX5 conversion ~ always sounded rather nice.

Fireball MX5....

Let me guess, the Fluxmeister?

Actually no, A-Plan insiring through Ensign. I tried them as they insured it with the last guy and had the mods already detailed and they blew me away with the price.

So can we assume that the 944 isn't going to rise Phoenix like from the ashes in the near future? Maybe you'll kick the P-car habit and reside on earth again for a while? Probably not a bad thing. It's like we all have our Daemons that we deal with during our time in the Porsche Moors.
This is, of course either interesting or mere drivel that I write.
I vote for drivel!

This is acceptance of the fact that I hope the 944 might be back next spring, but that (as Paul will testify) things normally take a lot longer than planned and realistically it could be spring 2008 before it's back. I wanted some giggles in the meantime and the Mazda I had was supposed to be a road toy alongside the Porsche, so it was no Porsche replacement.

I should be able to get nearly what the turbo one cost for the standard one making it little cost to change and I'll sell the turbo one on if the 944 project reaches the point where it's waiting only for finance to the tune of what the Mazda is worth to finish it. In the meantime I once more have some "gwwwwaaarrrrrr tsssccccchhhhh" to play with [:D]

GWWWAAAAARRRRRRRRR TTTTTIIIIIIIIISISSSSSSSCCCCCCCHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like that. Very onomatopoeic.

Get them sorted quick and lets get booked on to some of the August Goldtrack evenings [:D] I'd love to see an MX5 with twice the horses than it should have []

"Lets" as in "let us"? You know I'm talking August 2006? [:D][:D]

In all seriousness that is my intention, but I really could do with selling the surplus one ASAP before spending more on the new one as my extremely understanding wife probably has a limit and I don't really want to find it.

Rick, if you're going to TIPEC's meet can you take your noise meter and I'll bring the Roadster and get an idea if it needs to be quieter or if I can get away with it at a Silverstone evening.

This bit of garden is supposed to be getting made nice, not annexed as a car park...

Another MX5? Most people may think that Fen has 'popped his cork' but I think that secretly, deep down he likes to play everything very safe, almost boringly so. Let's face facts - he seems to have a deep seated fear of automobiles and distrusts them intensely. Because of this he likes to maintain a spare for every car that he owns. Previously he had two 944s, a Cab and a Turbo. Now he has two nearly identical MX5's, a worrying trend.

I think that piece of garden should remove all hope of ever becoming 'nice', and I also think that vendors of good condition BMW hearses will be rubbing their hands expectantly just about now [:D]

p.s. my engine is complete, watch this space for when it gets reinstalled to LIL [:)]

Pah, rumbled! It's not so mad - look what happened when I didn't have the spare 944 anymore. And anyway, you have a spare 944 as well Mr. Smith. It's a smart move; as John put it once "if something isn't broken, modify it until it is" and if that's the case then spare cars are a necessity, not a luxury.

Nothing wrong with having two of everything [:)] [:)]

Fen, I'll bring the noise meter to tipec. We might as well make it a mini Titanic/Scotland meets as Mr Sims will have bealky on display as well.

Rick.

I had two 944's for a bit as well, That was until the neighbours got fed up with the house looking like a used car lot. []

Beaky will be at the TIPEC do with WUF (I even joined). A demonstration of a sort of half way house between a standard 951 and a WUF.

Changing, or modifying, cars is a terrible affliction. I very much look forward to announcing that I accidentally bought an new Jag XKR - Porsche doesn't have a 2+2 that I would want currently. Perhaps in 10 years time (when I no longer have to consider the accommodation of a small boy) I might look toward a second hand Cayman or GT3. But then there would also be the possibility of a V8 Vantage or an XKRR. Why would I want a Porsche?

Just checking, TIPEC is the 30th, right? I thought it was this weekend, but on checking the 968UK forum it is the week after.
