Door Air Bag Covers

Hi everyone,
Due to a real bad habit, I've been pushing the drivers door open with my elbow on the air bag cover and its become dented and dimpled. Before I try easing the cover off to push out the dents, I thought I had better ask whether I'm going to set the air bag off by doing this. Anybody Know??
Regards
Wills.

Unless you plan to do it while moving, and hitting the airbag control unit with a hammer, there is no chance of the airbag deploying. [;)]

Seriously, the cover is part of the door trim, and I don't think it would unclip from the outside. I think you would be safer to remove the door card, and take a look at the back. The cover isn't attached to the airbag unit itself.

The only thing you need to be aware of is that if you unplug the airbag with the battery connected, you will get the warning light to come on. This has to be reset with a Porsche tester. You probably won't be going to do that though.

I guess you mean if you disconnect the battery first its ok. just dont forget to put the key in the ignition and turn it to the point where all your lights pop on.

Thanks guys. I think I'll leave it for the time being. I dont suppose anyone else would notice, but its one of those things that once you've spotted it, it seems to take on bigger and bigger significance. If ever I have to take the door card off for something else I must remember to do it then.

Often the regulator can go (by often i mean it probably will go at some point not it breaks all the time[:D]) and that would be a prime time to fix that job as the doorcard needs to come off anyway.
