Door and Dash speakers not working

i have the uprated stereo (not Bose) with dash and door speakers

When you move the fade to the front the speakers you hear a very very muffled sound

You also get a constant buzzing from the front left dash speaker, that continues after the head unit is switched off

the rears work fine

I any ideas what might be rhe issue?
 
You should unscrew the grills and see what's happened to the drivers. Sounds like one or two might have been overdriven and damaged.
 
took out the dash speakers and connected new ones

the buzzing is still there unfortunately

could it be the head unit or the amp?

what powers the fronts?

Difficult to say - it could be either.

If it is MY2002 with option M490 (Harman), then the speakers are all driven by the amplifier. If you want it, I have the wiring diagram, but I'm not sure it would help.

It's a Sept 2002 car but I believe it's MY 03

It's got the 490 option with a CDR23 head unit

Would that be MOST?
