Door bars

Does anyone know if the earlier cars or 924 came without bars in the doors? Or for that matter when they switched over to bolt in allow bars. My S2 race cars doors has welded in bars which seem to sit onto or are fused onto the outer skin, it was enough to put us off spending a lot of time cutting them out.
 
Yes, the early cars came without crash protection bars. I cant tell you which years though. Id guess it was the early suspension cars - 1979s certainly had them and I think that 1978s did too.

I haven't seen these 924 doors for years though and I suspect that they have all been weighed in by breakers, along with all of the other undesirable bits...
 
Yeah its a real pain, probably enough so that with my doors current state (no electrics, no mechs, poly windows) it may be easier to find doors with bolt in bars, un bolt the bars then get them repainted and everything refitted to them. I have a horrible feeling I still have a pair of doors sat in my mums garage for several years that I have forgotten about [:D].

BTW I got an unused BNIB drivers side unpainted black manual 924 mirror the other week, you know the one with the motorsport part number on it as fitted to cup cars and the carrera gts. Its amazing the stuff that turns up from time to time.
