Door card repair

I'd use a two-part resin, probably one of the fibreglass resins (although this is a big field and there are lots of options within that - I'd choose the cheapest.) Take care not to get it on the facing fabric of the door card 'cos you won't get it off. Oli.

I noticed last year when I removed the passenger door card to replace the window scraper rubber, that prior to my ownership the
bottom of the door card had been repeatedly wetted and as a result was disintegrating.

It's been totally dry for ages and I was thinking it might be easier/cheaper to effect a repair rather than trying to source
a replacement(its got the 10 speaker option).

I think there's enough of the fibreboard backing left to reinforce it with a suitable resin - I was thinking of something like
Cuprinol wood hardener - the stuff you use for repairing window fames etc. I'd guess that some additional fabric may be
needed to improve rigidity as well.

Has anyone used this or similar method?

Yes, that's a good idea. PVA glue (an external grade one) would probably do just fine and be a chunk cheaper. Oli.

Think I'd go the resin route too... perhaps adding a layer of two of fine tissue for added strength....that's glass tissue btw...:) Pete

Try the model aircraft shops for lightweight glassfibre and self levelling resin - I used to skin foam and balsa wings with the stuff, really light and strong.

I made molds, so both cards have been replaced by fibreglass ones. I used original trim which was in excellent condition.
