Door card repair

Just removed the drivers door card from my 86 Turbo to get to door lock mechanism. Looks like just in time! The bottom edge is very wet but not damaged. There is sign of damage and very poor repair around the window switch mounting holes and also area around where the door handle bolts is damaged.
I'm sure i have seen somewhere on here top tips for door card repair/weather proofing but can't find.
Top tips welcomed please!
