I have just retrimmed by door cards using a pair good used ones and would like to apply some kind of sticky plastic film onto the inside of the cards to stop them become wet and rotten again. Just wonder where can I get hold of such sticky film (I think I will some very strong and heavy duty one) or are there any better ways to protect them you guys will recommend.

door cards protective film

Hi there, I have just repaired the bottom of my cards and after refitting the trim I have applied two coats of good quality outdoor varnish, this soaked into the card and leaves it water resistant. this combined with the accurate fitting of proper door membranes should make your cards weatherproof.
I would think that the varnish and the properly fitted door membranes (make sure that the sewn in flaps are on the inside of the door) would be enough. This water damage/softening could have easily been avoided by porsche using a waterproof resin in the substrate when the cards were pressed but I think it is probably a re-cycling issue hence they seem to bio degrade while still in use, still we will overcome.
