door catch

The opening of my car is getting less precise, & I guess it a common thing . On pressing the door opener, its gone from c click to a squeeze. Whats the cure please ?

Sounds like the door needs lifted a bit.Check your lines etc and see if it has sagged a bit. May only be a couple of mm.

I would suggest that the rods that connect your triggers to the door release have bent a little over time. They are a complete twat to get to and adjust. But if you can get to it you simply pop it off the ball socket and wind it out a bit, to make the rod longer as the rod pushing down is what releases the door, and the handle throw will become less and you'll get back to your nice click! I know this as I recently fitted a new porsche script handle and had to adjust it twice to get it perfect!

Here is what you do. It can be done in 45 minutes and without scraping your hands to death so follow this exactly and you'll be fine!

Remove door card. Fold back plastic sheeting at handle side. Unbolt and remove central locking actuator, keeping it on it's mounting plate and mark where the 3 bolts onto the door frame are. Pop white rod from actuator and unplug from loom and get it out the way. Then unbolt the anti tamper plate, 2 8mm bolts. one probably has the door lock microswitch lead on it, remove plate. Unbolt window runner from the bottom, 8mm again then bend the window runner out the way and you will then see the little actuator rod you need to adjust. It connects to the handle at one end, is slightly bent, and has a black screwable ball connector at the bottom. Pop it off the ball socket and wind it out as much as you can. You then need to refit it, which is tricky! Remove the air vent from the side of the door, this will allow you to get pliers in to enable you to pop the rod back on. If it goes on with your fingers you're a lucky man! Also you may need to push the lock lever down a bit with a screwdriver as your elongated rod will probably now pass the ball connector. I had to push mine down about 10mm to get it to line up. It is fiddly but do-able and I'm pretty certain it will fix your issue!

Check and adjust to hearts content before bolting it all together again, and as a famous book says, refitting is a reversal of removing!!

Cheers

....& how is a sagging door fixed? Mines not quite right, too gentle and it doesn't close right, too hard and it sounds like a slam, sagging door? Poor rubber seal fitment?

You either need to adjust the catch on the b pillar or if the door is sagging adjust the hinges at the front of the door. You may have a snapped door pin in the hinge in which case you need a new one. Not expensive. Check visibly for sagging, if not too bad the catch may be all you need to play with.
