Door Check Stays - Question?

Sorry to ask a simple question. I have read the feedback on different peoples experiences with the check stays & the fix that is on the p-car site. My drivers door makes two clunks on opening (not terribly loud or noticable), the mounting on the A-pillar flexes ever so slightly with the opening and the pin moves around a bit. Does this mean that it is likely to completely fail at some time and if so would it be wise to get the problem fixed at this stage to prevent a more costly repair? Or would most people just wait and see??
