Door gap adjustment

Hi all,

Had a search through the archives but cannot find any obvious answer... thought i'd try here.

Is there a method of adjusting the door hinge in order to adjust the gap/distance between the rear wing and door?

I am being picky.. but i do seem to get quite a bit of wind noise from the door and tbh the gap is slightly more on the offside compared to the n/s...... anyone?

I was thinking there maybe an adjuster on the inside of the door to allow for minor movement when fitting?

Thanks

Trad way involves a bit of 4x2 and a couple of feet of leverage ... " 'tis good enough for Rolls Royce, therefore good enough for your Golf " (or so said a friend of mine just after he 'adjusted' the door on my beloved original Mk1 GTi ... )

[:(] But seriously Oli... any idea if there is adjustment within the door?

Its not big a problem that i would rush out and do it.... but you know what its like when you get an idea in your head! [:D]

Mike,

No, I don't think there is adjustment in there. Sorry. At least, if there is then I don't know about it.

Didn't need the 4x2 on mine, a little heave on the end of the door bought it into line so I didn't need to take the door off and fit the new hinge pins I'd bought [:-].

Thanks all,

Yes i think new seals wouldn't do any harm... otherthan my wallet of course! [:D]

I am not sure whether the gap is due to a new door being fitted in the past or whether as you say new seals would sort the problem.

The gap i refer to is the one between the rear wing and door... i do not have any play at all in the hinge and everywhere else seems to fit just fine

Will see what i can find out over the weekend [8|]
