Door handle now jammed!

I posted a thread a while back asking for advice on my handle which was stuck in. I have now had a look at this with the help of http://www.951motorsports.com/968DH.htm#Removing%20the%20Existing%20Door%20Handles which is helpful.

I freed up the handle with WD40 and the spring makes the handle operate correctly (returns out!). When I replace the whole thing back into the door though, the handle is jammed. It will not pull.

Any experience here guys? I am sick of removing it from the door and re-assembling it with the same results. And my fingers are now bloody freezing!
 
I've had this on the passenger side (less use than drivers side), I just put the key in partially, squirt a bit of penetrating fluid in the key hole using the thin red tube the can comes with, right into the lock and then wiggle the key. a bit of use then seems to free the mechanism off.

BTW, WD-40 stands for water dispersal for 40 days, so you need to repeat this proceedure about once a month to keep the mechanism free.

That's my experience, anyway.
 
Cheers John. It is the passenger door on mine that has the issue. When the doors are locked on 944's the handle can still be pulled in. But of course, the door will not open.

The key still operates normally in the lock, and activates the central locking (lock and unlock), but the hanlle is jammed!


 
Mine's still the same. Assuming it's just grease and crud in there jamming it up then I'm waiting for a day that's warm enough to soften it up a bit. Great driving around with the door card in the back, though. [:'(]
 
Ive given up with mine at the moment, they both jam in and the only way I can get round it is to carry a bent fork to lever the handle out!
People think i'm about to eat the damn the damn thing but until I can sort it its the only thing I can find to get in behind a stuck handle.

 
Trev, if it happens after you fit the lock back into the car, could be the rod that goes to the door lock release. Worth giving it a pull to see if it is unduly stiff. Probably worth giving the lock a good lube as well, quite often missed when cars are serviced. Get some 3 in 1 in and then some white grease! Always works for me!

I'd suspect (having had something similar with VW handles) that it's something to do with stuff 'round the back fouling on the lock mechanism. Is the handle lined up straight when you tighten it up? It may be worth loosening it, giving it a good 'wiggle' (technical term P#147d used there, please note) and re-tightening it.

If in doubt, remove the handle and make sure it works as it should off the car. Then re-attach it, testing it at every stage (easily done - pull the lever and see if it springs back.) When you find the stage that causes it to stop working then look more closely at what you are doing.

Sorted it! The central locking nipple, and the lock actuator rod both have to be removed to lift out the handle. On the passenger side the actuator rod needs to be sited to the RH and the locking nipple at the LH. I managed to reasemble the other way round and the locking mechinisim was fouling the release rod.
