Door handles 930 powder coating yes/no

Hello, after many years on the doors mine are a bit worn paint wise.

I was thinking of powder coating them satin black instead of painting them that colour again.

Question time OTT or waste of time?.

I have used this way before, on my wife's 69 Karmann beetle on the full restoration to very good effect. I did all the suspension front beam the lot.
I have nearly finished her car, she is lucky that I can weld.

Five years ago I restored my 1975 Turbo. All the anodising (Black) was worn on all the contact/exposed points such as door handles, window surrounds etc. They could not be re-anodised as any rust or old anodised coating would react to the elctrolysis process causing bursts and a pitted poor finish, also the process would be invasive to the original metal as the old finish would need to be stripped off. The choice was therefore to either replace with new or powder coat or paint.

To preserve the originality of the car I choose powder coating in the original satin black finish. The car has since then put on 12,000 miles over the following five years and the quality of the finish is still as fresh as it was the day it was all done. Very happy and no regrets over the choice of powder coating.

Hope this helps.

Thanks I thought, I would not be the first person to think about doing it.

Will get it done in August, when the car is laid up again as always.
Work on the car in the winter enjoy in the summer.
