Are we talking about the "trigger" on the door handles that breaks? If so, you can just swap the VW trigger over to the Porsche handles. That's what I did to mine. Another thought would be to use the VW handles for the back, off 4 door cars. it would do a slick door lock delete if you have remote door locks that is.

Evening all, a question re door handles...forgive me if I've asked this before, i really can't remember....I seem to recall hearing in the past that VW golf handles fit the 944..My question is has anyone stripped down a golf handle and is the trigger the same design as Porsche or different, if so how different, can it be adapted? I need a new trigger for my drivers door, I will also need the same for the passenger door at some point as it seems to be getting hard to open since having to use it more after the drivers trigger failed. Golf handles are cheap, Porsche are very expensive..I have spoken to OPC about the cost of a new handle which is over £100. It may be that the only way to go is buy new Porsche handles and remove the triggers to fit my scripted handles, this however leads to the question, has the design changed at all?
The new MOT rules require that both front doors can be opened from both inside and outside the car so I need to get this sorted before the next MOT is due in June.
Oh and if golf handles do fit... which model?
Hoping someone can give me some good news but suspect not...:)

cheers

Pete

Hi Simon, those are better than what I have found so far as you can buy the bare handle without locks.... I have been looking at exploded views of the triggers themselves and think that as my last post said it is possible to replace the triggers with VW items.. I will order both bare handles and see how I get on.......

Thanks for the link..

Pete

Door handles ordered, thanks Simon. I have gone for the bare handles (no barrel locks) but does include seals, not sure if these fit but if they do it's a bonus. Total cost including P&P was £20.34... considering the crap replacement triggers available from the US which cost more just for the one, this seems a good deal, hopefully there will be no issues changing the triggers over. I'll report back once done which hopefully may be of help to anyone else needing to do the same. I suspect that all 944's will need to fix broken handles at some point in time..

Wish me luck...:)

Pete
