Door lock barrels

Hi.

My keys do not work on the drivers door lock. They only work in the passenger, boot and ignition. I would like to swap the barrels over between the doors to make my life easier. Can this be done? (please say yes)

I have looked for the answer to this already btw but can't seem to find an answer to this particular question!

Hiya,

I'm not sure if the barrels can be swapped. However, I have got a complete working drivers door lock, handle mechanism with key for the bargain price of £20 + PP.

Let me know if you're interested ?

Yes you can swap them. It can be awkward to get the barrel out without a key but is possible with a bit of a fiddle.
If you can get another lock you can use the various bits to make the lock fit your key, swapping the gates around.

Thanks for this guys - Chris I may take you up on that offer if swapping turns out to be too much of a pain. Thanks a lot

Yes they can be swapped, only takes seconds with the key when removed from the car.
I have a complete set with keys (doors, hatch, fuel cap and ignition). new in original sealed packet. Did not get around to installing them before car was written off.

I was going to put them on Ebay, mail me if they are of use.

I had a similar situation - mine had a Porsche key that worked on the ignition, fuel filler and rear hatch, and another key for the drivers door. Neither key worked on the passenger door which I had to lock/unlock using the central locking from the drivers side. I successfully altered both locks so now only need the Porsche key for everything.
It did take some time but didn't cost anything as I just changed the gates around within each barrel so that they didn't protude much, if at all, with the key in and then filed them down level with the barrel. With the key out they still protude more than far enough to be effective. So all you need to do is alter your drivers side to suit your key. I found the most difficult part is manouvering the handle to get at the back where the screw is that holds the barrel in without disconnecting the metal lever that drops down inside the door as I understand that this is very difficult to reattach.
If you want more detail, I'll do a write up.
