Door Lock Issues

Hi All. Just wondering if someone may be able to point me in the right direction concerning an unlocking problem on my 996. I left the car in the garage for over a week and as expected the car entered its 'sleep' mode. However, when I try to unlock the car I am getting a double beep and the passengers door will not open at all. It sound as if the solenoid inside the door is attempting to unlock it and then immediately locking it again. I cannot even unlock the passenegr door from the inside via the switch on the dash or manually, therefore I have a single seater porsche at the mo!! Would really appreciate any tips or advice on this problem. Thanks all.

My guess would be that it's a problem with a microswitch inside the door lock assembly. A PST2 diagnostic tester can display the positions of the microswitches, so could tell you if one of them was sticking. As you are getting a double-beep, it should also have stored the fault in memory. A decent indy should be able to diagnose the problem, or if you are anywhere near me (Maidenhead, Berks) drop me an email, as I could help.

Richard. Thanks for the swift reply. Just got the car back from Ninemeister (as I am up in Manchester at the moment) and you were right, sticking microswitch! All sorted now. Thanks again
