Sorry you may have seen this question elsewhere but newbie didn't post in the right place i need some help as my car automatically unlocks when you try to lock it and the delaer can't find the fault as it is intermitant
(2001 996 C2)
has anyone come across this before please?

Yes it does double bleep but if I lock it by pressing the fob twice quickly ( ie arm without the movement sensors ) then it locks fine do you think it still sounds like the micro's

Did the dealer do a test with a PST2 (Porsche System Tester)? If so, it would show up a fault in the alam unit memory. If it isn't showing a fault, then it's a bit of a mystery. Intermittent faults always are.

When I had the microswitch fault in my car I could only lock it with the 3-turn emergency locking procedure. Double-locking with the key didn't work, but I confess that I didn't try double-locking with the remote.

It said that there had been a fault but it wasn't present guess i will just have to wait for it to get worse and do it all the time

Does it happen more often in wet weather? If so it might be water in the door loom connectors. Just a thought. This wont show up on any tester.

Hi there, i has a similar issue but for no reason it went away so sorry not very helpful there. It would be nice to know what did happen.

btw, roof going up and down using the remote control - is that standard function? Mine doesn’t seem to do that.

If it locks, and then immediately unlocks with a beep from the alarm horn, then it is likely to be a microswitch within the door lock assembly. It is common for the microswitch which senses if the door is open or closed to break. The alarm thinks the door is still open, and so it won't allow the door to lock.

As a temporary measure, use the emergency locking procedure. Either press the lock button on the fob 3 times, or turn the key to the lock position and back 3 times.
