Which part is loose? I've had the mirrors off both my 944 and 3.2, if you ******* the mirror ***************************** firm up the mirror.
The mirror pod can also work loose from the base, there is a sprung loaded fixing / pivot bolt through the centre of which the wiring for the mirror goes. Over time and with movement, this works itself lose and the miror falls off the base! I had to fix this on the 944 and it was a right pain in the 4r5e... You have to remove the mirror glass which is mounted on a bezzle, disconnect the wiring (on the 944 I had to remove the pins from the connector block), pull the harness through the bolt, the bolt has a spline key (I filed a broad blade screwdrive to fit) which has to be loaded against the spring and wound back into the mirror body. Refitting is he reverse etc.....
Good luck
