Door Sill rust

Some advice please.
I own a 16,000 mile 2004 model C4S. I'm the second owner. The car has factory fitted stainless steel Carerra sill plates, however there is corrosion on the sills in areas immediately surrounding the sill plates. Surely this should not be present on a 16,000 mile 4 year old and otherwise unmarked car?

I delivered the car to OPC Hatfield who sent me off to Fastlane Paint and Body for an warranty referral. Fastlane were very professional and delivered their report via OPC Hatfield to Porsche GB who subsequently turned down the claim on the basis that (upon inspecting the photographs) Porsched warrant corrosion from inside out and not visa versa. Infact the corrosion is from inside out in this case!

Obviously I will pursue my claim further via Porsche GB customer services, but would appreciate any advice and information from other owners who may be in a similar situation or have noticed rust in the door shut sill area especially when stainless stell 'Carerra' plates have been fitted.

Thanks in advance.....

Craig

I've heard the same thing many times, rust from the inside not covered, rust from the outside - you'll be lucky to get a successful claim (assuming you've had your maintenance book stamped every year when the bodywork has to be inspected to maintain your bodywork warranty)

Your only hope is to escalate it to Germany. I had a claim due to the well documented door catch rust (early cars were built with shims missing) and UK steadfastly refused to honour the warranty saying it only covered 'perferations'. I should have made a bigger fuss but ended up taking the easier course of funding the work myself.

I have found UK to be 'less helpful' on a number of issues that suddenly became resolved when it went to Germany. Having worked in a similar industry with a warranty department they undoubtedly tried it on first and relented only for a few customers who shouted very loudly.
