Drivers door stay/strap had been repaired but quite badly .... could someone please post some pictures of some that have been done 'wel'l so i could compare and show the bodyshop what i want .

Anyone know of good repairers in the Essex region please ? ...

Im sure there will be post on here but i cant find em .... Sorry!!

Would anyone have some snaps of their door stay repairs and anyone have an idea of a good repairer in Essex area ?

I had my driver's door strap repaired by a Porsche approved body shop a couple of years ago and you would not know that it has been touched. There's no point in posting any pictures cos it looks exactly the same as the passenger side that hasn't been done. I had expected some tell-tale signs but it really is perfect but then it did cost around £150.

Mine's nothing like as good as that. I would not describe it as a bodge job, not that bad, but it's clear that someone has been there with a arc welder.

I'll try to take a picture tomorrow.

My O/S door check strap is broken. Today I was quoted £450.00 plus vat[:'(] to repair at an official porsche centre, along with a list of other jobs while the car was being serviced.
I declined the offer to carry out this service. Does this price seem right to all of you?

I had to have the driver`s side done on my previous 993 about 4 yrs ago and it cost about £300 at a local body shop. They removed the door and cut a hole in the pillar to access the bracket, then welded it from the from the inside of the pillar for it would look as it would originally. After they had welded the pillar up it was painted and looked as new.

From memory, I'd say that was bang on the money. (Unfortunately).

Seems like it's quite a time consuming job to do properly.

£300 seems like good value. Maybe it's worth shopping around.

Checked my invoice and mine was £250, not the £150 I said earlier. That was nearly 3 years ago, so pretty good value for me.

Unfortunately mine was done by a previous owner who i think might of done it himself after a trip to B&Q .... Think its gonna have to be ground down and done again as it was welded back from the outside ... unfortunately it will never look like the passengers side which is still ok .. But hey ho ... not a lot i can do .......
