Have you recently had a new door window fitted, or has there been any damage of any sort in that area?

The most likely cause is that one of the clips in the door lock mechanism has broken or slipped off, and the relevant part has jammed.

Try giving the door a few swift wallops near the door button on the inside. It sometimes works.

If it comes down to it, I'd suggest taking the car to a specialist to get the door opened. Cutting into the door card seems rather extreme, and by the time you've made good the damage, you'll probably not be much better off.

Just noticed you're in Exeter. If you aren't using him already then I suggest giving Andy Moss in Honiton a call. He's ex-Exeter OPC and superb and not expensive. He's on 07762 244477.[FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Which is your cab? I might have seen it around as I'm in Kingsteignton but use Exeter for shops etc.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

HI all .....door now open which involved part removing the door card in order to get at inside of door catch..

the problem was that the metal link from the exterior door handle broke at the handle end, and fell into the catch mechanism thereby jamming everything.

to be honest, it looks like someone has had problems with this link before, as it has obviously been hammered and bent.

so, at the end of the day, all i need now (i hope) is a replacement door handle, and a plastic sill trim.

many thanks for the advise

Paul
