Door wires trapped

JB 3.2

New member
I've finally managed to get to the problem of my right hand speaker not working.

It would appear one of the speaker wires between the stereo and the loudspeaker is broken (no continuity when checked with a meter). On closer inspection I believe the wires are trapped between the point where they leave the door and the door upright.

Is it possible to gain access to, or replace these wires without removing the wing?

If the speaker wires have been damaged I would like to check the other wires at the same time.

I've found the easiest way to get leads run across the door jamb is to solder the new wire to the wire you wish to replace then spray WD40 on the leads and on the entry to the grommets. That way the cables will easily slip thro, by the ol' pull and push method.[;)] And once you've started the WD40 will have coated the inside of the tubes and the rest of the wires can be done easily one by one[:)]
Piece of cake[:D]
Good luck

Alex,

Thanks for the reply, I will give it a try.

I spoke to my local specialist today, he indicated trapped wires are quite a common problem and the usual method of rectification is to remove the door.
