Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! is the only way I could describe myself the other night. Because ive done this twice before.
I put my security locks on quite a bit when driving, through force of habit.
The other night I traveled around 15 miles to see a freind.
Having just installed some brighter bulbs on my car I thought it would be a good idea to check them out on arival. So I get out and the door closes, not completly, just agar. Trouble was I had my security locks still on. So I had a locked porsche with its engine still running.
My brother kindly picked up my other set of keys and brouht them to me. mind you this was around, 8.oopm all the was to 9.00pm. so my friends neighbours loved the boomy sound while they where trying to get there kids to sleep.[&o]
Has anybody else been in this situation? Dont all laugh ok.[;)]

you must work in an area like St Pauls ![;)]

My Dad used to swear by a magnetic key box under the wing with a spare key. Sensible chap he is ,its helped him out of a few scrapes.

worse situation I had was when I left my car at work and went out with another Architect to carry out a survey of a void property in the middle of nowhere and left my house and car keys in the void property. By the time I had been deposited back at the office and realised my mistake all the staff had gone home and I was stranded 35 miles from home with no money, keys or cell fone at 6pm in the middle of a dark business park miles from anywhere with my keys locked in a derelect house 20 miles away

Could well be an urban myth - I haven't tried this myself, but ......

Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday! .
Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the
spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their mobile phone from
your cell phone.
Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at
your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on
their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to
drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of
miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for
your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).

er....but remote entry uses radio, not sound. I think the early ones used sonics but that would be outside the frequency range of the ear piece on a mobile phone.....I'm convinced this is an urban myth like you suggest.
