Double Dilemma - New 996 Anni Owner and Damage on Day 2 of Ownership....

So Friday I pick up the car I have been waiting 20 years to buy - FANTASTIC!!!!! I finally found the car I really wanted, an Anniversary (will be joining the club for definite now!). Lovely car all the options, great to drive - has N2 Continentals on the rear (6mm) and bald P Zeros on the front...so first dilemma, do I replace the fronts with continentals, figuring they'll last 3-4 times longer than rears OR do I take a punt, put P Zeros back on the front (yes I know you shouldn't mix brands), wait for Continentals to wear and go all P Zero? Anyone got/like the continentals - they seem OK but I have never had them before?

Today I my son out for a spin, sit there at a junction on a slight incline and a brand new driver rolls back 5-6 feet and hits the front of my new car! I have a scratched and split nose on my new baby. So I have a car needing a new nose and of course specail paint as only the Anniversary and the Carrera GT get the polar silver, i feel I should insist the localOPC (Reading) do the work....what do you alll recommend?

Sorry to hear that - really bad luck happning on day two.[&:]

Yes - certainly for a 996, in such a specific colour, it seems sensible to insist on OPC based repairs. Will help avoid any issue with resale value being affected by the knock. Although it does not sound like damage is too bad (I mean a future purchaser might detect a front end respray, but they are very common to clear stone chips).

On the plus side you get a nice shiny PU! I'm sure it is GT Silver not polar, but your paint code will reveal all.

Specialised Paint are fantastic- I used them for some work on my 993, and they were tops.
