Double Din Stereo/Sat nav

Just enquiring, has anyone fitted a double din unit in there 944?

Was it difficult?
How do you get on with it?
Have you any pics?

I am toying with the idea of getting a radio/CD/Sat Nav double din unit but not sure what this will look like if it will fit.

It should fit. The blanking plate I got for my cubby to mount the gauges on was a DIN blanking plate. You will of course have to find a way of attaching the cage for your unit to the existing space. I am sure it easily done with a small amount of work.
 
I put a double Din Ford 6000 CD unit in my old 86 Lux. The only problem i had was the lack of depth at the bottom of the unit due the angle of the fascia . You need to measure from the bottom of the fascia opening to the tunnel perpendicular to the opening to ensure there is enough depth for your proposed unit.

Its a simple enough job but I fixed a double din mounting hole from a Ford to the 944 ECE opening . I also ordered 944 audio connector adaptors which plugged into the Porsche connectors and converted them to the ICE unit I was fitting. No cutting cables and sticking it together with clips and electrical tape.!...No damage done to the original wiring loom and connectors either.

If I did it again with my current car I'd be tempted to construct an aluminium housing box with a double din mounting face attached which would fix in the Porsche opening . Then its just a case of pushing your ICE/satnav into the box
