Just to let everyone know the final round of the British Hillclimb Championship and the Scottish Hillclimb Championship is this weekend at the Doune Hillclimb event, near Stirling.

I know a few of you came along for the June event and hopefully everyone had a good time. Assuming the weather is kind to us its always a great weekend. I will be competing in car 55, a clubman Sports Racing Car. Doune is too narrow to take the 944 up there.

Thanks

George

Yep, 9 am start both days. Saturday practice and SUnday for the runs which count for Championship points. Reasonable entery for the weekend, 114 cars, higher than we usually have for the September event.

Oh, when I said I was entered under car number 55, i was lying. Its car number 60. Picture below.

thanks for the info
if you see a slightly tatty, silver, 3.2carrera with a turbo whale tail then that'll be me

Got all of my car back after going to Doune on Saturday so either you didn't see anything worth taking from it or you forgot your tools!

But seriously, a great day our for any petrolhead. Not much in the way of Porsches, although the XSRacing team mad to wipe off the drool marks after I had a look at their modded 911. Lovely (white) 3.2 Carerra in the paddock but nothing else.

The eyes popped out of my boys (8 & 11) heads when they say the single seaters leave the line and head off up the track. Simply stunning. Where do they put the huge Kahonas that the dirvers have!

Short Wheelbase Quattro, Elan Sprint, Mk1 Escort, 1920's Bentley, Rice Rockets, modded Fiesta, Pug XS's & a good few Westfield/Caterhams. Something for everyone and £5 for 2 days, a bargain.

Is there a class where a road going un modified 911can compete or is it a case of having a go and measuring just your progress against the clock?

Neil, yes you could compete in the hillb clim championship with your car, not sure of the groups now, but you would be in the road going sports car class above 3000cc , in short you would need to join a club that is involved in racing, east lothian carclub, or monklands or somethine (cheap to join) plus a few safety mods on your car, obtain a class B race license (about £50 or so) but a race suit and an approved helmet and off you go, if your at dakota thu, can have a chat about it, its good fun and quite cheap

regards
scott.

Me and my young lad were there in my C2S. Wasnae too happy about being directed into a field by the Scout. However seen a 4S whenever i entered, so guessed it was safe enough. My mate was competing in his Westie. Managed a 46 something lap. Madman that he is! As for the lads in the British mucho cohonies!!!!! Damn good day out and my 3 year old young lad was in his element.
