Drain anxiety

I am continuing to get to know my new(ish) to me early Boxster 986. The drains continue to be source of anxiety/interest after reading of the consequences of blockages. I have got the rears all sorted and thought the fronts were OK but one of these does not look right. The front passenger side drain seems to be missing the rubber grommet (and the internal pipe?). Various opinions on the internet (mainly from America) range from it is a major issue to nothing to worry about as any water will escape (eventually), cannot get into the cabin & cause the dreaded electrical problems.
So, what is the consensus - can I leave it or do I need to fix it?

IMHO fix/replace the drain. Porsche put it there for good reason.
Odd it is missing or is it simply pushed through the hole and resting out of sight?

I would return it to OE, as the ECU is under neath the passenger side seat, and if it gets wet it fry’s itself. Best thing to clean the drains out is a trombone cleaner, you can buy them on eBay for a few quid.

Thanks for the replies. I should have said that I have got a trombone cleaner and used it on all the drains. On this one it does go down the drain - almost for its full length (1m).
Has anyone fitted a new drain liner pipe?
