Drains under clamshell

The rain drain on the drivers side under the clamshell is blocked and water has leaked into the cab behind the seat. Thecarpet is fine as i spotted it and lifted teh carpet propped up with a towel and I am certain it will dry just fine. I have my suspicions as to how this happened, just after a service, but I'll keep that to myself for now.

I think it might be a bit of yellow sponge..........which typically, in panic, in the dark, in te rain i think I may have pushed further in.

The local Porsche specialist said that to clear them the need to take interior panels of behind the rivers seat to get to the 'draniange systems' and it' snot as simple as just clearing the tube. All the diagrams I have seen show just a tube from top to bottom is this right? Anyway they want £85 +VAT to fix it unless of course it takes them longer than an hour!

Anybody had this problem and solved it? Any tips?. I'm worried about putting a wire down there in case it gets stuck!!

I hope to tackle the problem tomorrw so any help would be very much appretiated!

Thanks,
Richie

The Porsche way is to blow it out with an air-line - so removal of panels should not be necessary.

If you are doing it yourself don't use something with a sharp - or potentially sharp - tip. (No wire coat-hangers!) Use something flexible with a rounded tip. I imagine a net curtain wire with a looped end would work nicely, not tried it myself mind...

As well as the carpet check UNDER the seat - the Alarm module is there and that will be Very Expensive if it's sat in a pool of water - it will fail.

As always - thanks Mark.

Carpet lifted fron the rear of the car up to the seat brackets and propped up, under and in front of the seat is all ok. I keep a check on the towelI have used as a dam and change when wet. Just go to the behind the seat carpet dry but no point abouring over that until I stop the block!

Gutted it has happened as I am so careful and try to keep them clear.

hey-ho!

Well, drain cleared!

Phoned up Mid Sussex Porsche and Steven the Service Manager picked up. I asked how best to clear them and he said just bring it down and we'll sort it. They clreade both the rear drains and the ones under the battery in the front whilst I had a cup of tea............no charge.

Not often you hear that at a OPC!!!

Now to get the carpet dry and fresh!

I'm encouraged to hear that Mid Sussex are one of the OPCs that display an enlightened attitude to customer service.

Mark, maybe it's worth listing somewhere all those OPCs that deliver above average standards of customer service to Boxster Register members. And perhaps an annual award (The Extra Mile Award?) would recognise their efforts more tangibly.
