Dreaded Cylinder Crack

Just found out that the cylinder on my 2002 c2 cab, has cracked c£10,000 repair.

I think I would like to sell the car, instead of repairing it, does anyone have any recommendations of who might the best person to sell the car to. With the exception of the cracked cylinder the car is in very good condition.

Any advice appreciated, feeling a bit sad today as car was much loved over the last 18months that I have owned it.

Try eBay as an alternative, there are professional engine rebuilders out there and fitting should not take someone that long.

Definitely look at just the bottom end there will be places out there. Don't give up on her yet.

Has it been diagnosed as a cracked cylinder head and not a cracked cylinder liner? I think you should be able to repair it much cheaper if it's a cracked head (Is the above an estimate from an OPC?)

I would be happy to provide a comparable estimate - all in the interest of helping you to keep it!

Autofarm in Oxford are M96 experts can give you a proper appraisal and rebuild if viable can be more like £5-6K - and much improved! If the rest of the car is good, it may be worth it if you are prepared to keep it a few years.

My friend had his engine rebuilt due to the D-Chunk failure at Autofarm - cost him £8-9k minimum work done on the cheap etc. Do you know anyone that's had it done for £5-6?

Cylinder liner failure is different to the cracked head and much more costly to address.

If it is a cracked head (which does happen) I would recommend the poster finds someone who will supply and fit a used, refurbished head. It is an engine out job, but I would not expect the cost to be anything like the 10k initially suggested, unless a whole lot of other work is done.

Hi
There apparently was water dripping from one of the cylinders when one of spark plugs was removed, and it is the cylinder liner that is cracked

please contact me on sixoneone@hotmail.com, if this is something you can quote on
