drift /slide training?????????

Laurence, surely there must be a B&Q car park near you?
I am sure Des could teach you the drift/slide part....you may have to work out the recovery bit yourself ;)

Thats a bit harsh, i don't know how Des will take that [:D]

I know what you mean, last time it was icy I was asked to leave homebase and not return for trying to donut the car in their car park ........not my idea of customer servive at all.

there was a caterham or similar type event going on in the car park at silverstone for a few days whilst i was up watching the F1 testing.
Loads of tyre squealing...........

Give Andy Walsh a call at http://www.carlimits.com/ I did a course there, recently, where I was working on spin avoidance and recovering from big slides. I spent most of the day looking out the side window at 70mph, and giggling helplessly.
Even though there were 3 other people on the course, all working on different stuff, Andy still was able to tailor my day to suit what I wanted to achieve.

If you went with 3 other people who all wanted to spend the whole day "sideways", I think you would have a blast. You would certainly leave some rubber behind! PM me if you do put something together, I'd be keen!

Done several walshy days. Want to do something similar to the video. It may not be obvious from the vid but the "track" is watered so tyre wear should be less dramatic.

Lawrence

I'm booked with a few similar minded mates to go on one of Don Palmer's On The Limit courses in Feb next year at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground[&:]. I understand it's a relatively safe place to learn how to control the car on and past the limit of adhesion. I'll let you know how I get on as I think it's something you have to do more than once....[:)]

Hi Tim,
I have done Don's course at Bruntingthorpe a year or so ago and it was sideways action all day[;)]
However by 3pm I had a strange scraping noise from the rear of the RS which turned out to be the steel reinforcing from my rear Dunlops[&:][&:]

Great day though[:)]

Laurence, come to Spa next May for the Porsche Francorchamps Days (cf Thread elsewhere) and I will introduce you to the owner of the Centre (Philippe Menage) where this video was taken. Philippe Menage is a driving instructor for the Porsche Club Francorchamps. The Centre in question is about 15 miles away from the Spa track. So, you could easily combine the PCF Days with sliding your car (ask Charles ;-)

That's interesting idea Phil. I'm still not sure what I'm doing for Spa yet. There are quite a few choices this year(pcf, autotrack, rma, and goldtrack all have days there). The PCF days are during my night shift week which involves booking off an awful lot of hours so scratching my head at the mo.

tbh Paul I did'nt know it had one? are we talking about a proper skid pad or an area of tarmac? Des I am really not sure what to do at Mo. There is even some talk that the track won't be finished in time!

Laurence,
Des knows most areas , his venues are safe as they are usually surrounded by SAND.
