Hi,

After checking thr oil level via the dip stick, I had a look round my engine. All the usual stuff, like excessively rust exhaust bolts were noted, but I noticed two things. One I am not sure about, the other concerned me.

Should this pipe connect to anything, or it a just a breather?

Thanks Nick, I thought it didn't look too serious.

And the other issue I saw was -

Now the car was completely leak free when I bought it. I wonder whether the fact it was overfilled with oil when serviced could have brought this on? The pic is from underneath the engine, in the middle, towards the back. RMS?

And I apologise for the poor typing in my previous post, I blame a dodgy keyboard[;)]

the leak is not a fault its a 996 design feature to ensure the engine bay is well oiled
to prevent corrosion
