Drive at Rockingham 24th May

Further to the following posting in the Heritage forum.......

The date is 24th. May and the venue, Rockingham Oval Motor Speedway in Northants. This will be a series of 8 to 10 parade laps behind a pace car after the end of racing on the Saturday. The idea is far a two day event for PCGB Registers in conjunction with The MG Car Clubs racing event. Cost is £10 per day car and driver (passenger over 17 years of age a further £10) £15 for the weekend and the cost of taking you car on circuit £15 for car, driver and passenger. This will be covered in the APRIL edition of Porsche Post.

[&:] OK then chaps, what about putting up a 944 contingent then?

I have asked if there is on site camping available, but no one seems to be sure at the moment. Any takers?

I' m fairly confident that we' ll be going (we only live 20 miles away). We used to go to the the Coys vintage racing weekends at Silverstone, but have missed that since it' s stopped.

A two day classic motor race meeting organised by the MGCC.
At the ROCKINGHAM OVAL SPEEDWAY Nr Corby Northants
Creating an atmosphere with marque cars. Trade stands, Hospitality suites.

PORSCHE CLUB will have privileged parking behind the Main Grandstand, opposite the Start/Finish line. REGISTER GAZEBOS and MEETING PLACE

Tickets £ 10 per car and Driver one day entry, grandstand seat. Passengers £ 10.
under 17s free. Two Day entry £ 15.

PARADE LAPS Saturday between 6.00pm - 8.00pm behind Pace Car £ 15 per Car.

A guy on Rennlist turned an MPEG of the 944 Turbo TV advert into an animated GIF file. I hope it doesn' t slowdown peoples load time too much

Just bumping this back to the top of the list, is anyone else planning on going? I have the booking form sat on my desk - but I don' t want to be surrounded by MG' s after last years camp site activity at Le Mans - a member of our group lowered their X-power flag to half mast after the MG' s all went out - they might recognise me and take revenge!

We should be going, but not sure if for one or two days. We have still to find out if there are camping facillities on site.

The rockingham web site says there is a campsite just outside, there is also a travel lodge within 7 miles,

just a thought but possibly a serious issue,
could this be breaching any copyrights, are there any implications for the club forum, or the club, I' ve heard Porsche have been keen on copyright breaches in the past or is the video in the public domain ?

Not going to make either now - I am over service miles, car going in Tuesday, and I had forgotton a family party on the Sunday

Looks like we will be comming back on Saturday night as there doesn' t seem to be too many/any 944s camping.

We are Nº 23 for the " Drive round the track" so it doesn' t look like many have booked for that either.

John, We are still planning to go on Saturday (MG Metro race should be fun) but are leaving it to a last minute decision due to the weather forecast. We' re definitely not camping as we only live 30 mins away.

What is all this worry about the weather?

If you only live 30 minutes away, that will make you a Northen type. I thought you chaps went out in all weathers with nothing more substantial than an M&S singlet to protect you []

I' m assuming that your dearly beloved will be bringing the other car so as to make up the numbers?
