Drive out to the Peak District

Dave Wilkinson

New member
Mike,

You mentioned yesterday at the Concours that someone is running a drive out to the Peak District quite soon. You also said that the details are on the Forum - but I can't find anything. Can you point me in the right direction??

Best regards

Dave

Sorry....brain fade. I had posted something - on your thread "Where to next then?", but only one line with no detail !! The relevant info is in the Regional Report in Porsche Post, but as promised here are the details:

Peter Brearley has kindly organised a Tulip run into the peak District on Sunday 19th September. Peter has asked that we meet at the Peveril in the Peak Hotel, just outside the village of Thorpe, nr. Ashbourne. Coffee and map book available in the lounge from 10.00 to 10.45 am.

Email pbrearley@clara.co.uk to book your place and for further details.

It is about 90 miles from MK to the hotel, so it will be a reasonably prompt start in the morning. I will be travelling directly there for the North of England that morning, so if anyone wants to volunteer to act as co-ordinator of a departure from J15A services, please let me know and post a message on this forum.

Guys,

Could you give me a bit more info on this drive out ?, I haven't been on a club one before and would like to know what to expect.

I pick up my new Turbo Cab this week from Silverstone, so it would be nice to stretch its legs on the weekend. (If i don't sretch them on the Bedford trackday 1st this Saturday !)

Mike,

Very keen to go. I've e-mailed Peter for some more information. Are there any other R10 members going. I'm happy to meet up with others at J15A Services if you want to convoy up there. If the meet is at around 10-ish I'd guess we'd have to leave J15A soon after 8-ish on Sunday morning.

Best regards

Dave

This sounds interesting - could you please mail me with what u find ? I'd be interested. E-mail address is below

If all OK, then I'll be happy to meet anyone @ J15A from 8:00. If all goes well, C U then.

Rgds

This is a bit more relaxed than a track day - not aimed at breaking records X-country, just a pleasant drive around an part of the country following a route mapped out by Peter. I have asked him if he can post more details to include here. Hopefully we will have something on here very shortly. If we get enough cars, we will have to consider getting an exemption certificate for road rallying - anyone know how you go about this?

(PS It would be great to see the Turbo Cab out!)

OK guys - don't get too excited. I've had a reply from Peter who tells me that the drive out is planned for SEPTEMBER 19th not this coming Sunday. I still plan on participating - but it's not so much of a rush now.

Best regards

Apologies to everyone if I have mislead you all on the date...........my original response on 9 August on this thread started by Dave was intended to send you all to read the Porsche Post R10 report for info. I clearly failed in this endeavour. Then, to compound the error, I inadvertantly referred to "this" Sunday, but meant "the Sunday that Peter was running the event"......not the forthcoming weekend! Bad grammar I suppose (or simple stupidity on my part!).

FOR THE AVOIDANCE OF FURTHER DOUBT, I MEAN SUNDAY 19th SEPTEMBER 2004 - as set out in P Post.

Peter is going to issue more details on the drive-out in early September. He does not have access to the Forum (IT problem), so email him with any queries or expressions of interest please. He is at pbrearley@clara.co.uk

Boo Hiss...

I'm all "set up" for a day in the Peak's now ! Anybody up for a "splinter meet" at J15A, head out into the sun and see where we end up ? Picnic or Pub lunch....perhaps something else ?

Ideas ?

How about that for an ad-hoc plan ? [&:]

Peter has advised me he has only a couple of expressions of interest confirmed to him so far. He has put a great deal of effort in to this trip. It should be a good run for Porsche's of all types. If you are interested, let him know asap.

I will mention this again at the next meeting (12th September @ Navigation Inn), but time is running short.

Dear all

Due to the low take-up as of Tuesday this week, it was decided to postpone this drive-out until next Spring.

Peter Brearley put a lot of effort into devising an interesting route though the Peak District, and various stop-off for refreshment, etc. A very small party taking part would not do this justice.

I hope we can get a greater response next year. Provisionally, we are considering the weekend before Easter in March 2005; please pencil this in your diaries now if you are interested - and let me or Peter know that you would like to take part....or it will be postponed again!!
