drive shaft cv boots

has anyone changed the boots on the cv joints for their car, or is it even possible?

my drive shafts and cv's are in great nick, but i noticed last night when poking around that the boot on one side has a small nick in it.. Im thinking i will replace all 4 (if its possible) but looking for some advice..

are parts available for this from OPC or other sources?
can it be done with standard tools or do i need some specials?
am i mad to even consider it?
will the weather hold for the weekend?

Yes parts very easy to get hold of from OPC or independent. Its a messy job ....Graphite grease gets every where and if the CV's joints are worn you will need new ones.

Quite a time consuming job if the alley bolts are rusted tight to the gearbox drive flanges.

If your not sure I would get a garage to do the work.
 
thanks for the info.. im a hands on guy, so wil get stuck in and give it a go [;)]
ive been out of the uk so not able to get in touch with the OPC, but will speak with them tomorrow if the parts are available from them..

just as an FYI, £45.38+vat for all parts incl grease for one CV joint.. 18.62 of that is for grease, so will be stealing the grease from work [:D]
