Drive System is Active - Switch Off Ignition warning

Has anyone seen this warning message?

I called my PC this morning and it looks like I may need to get it recovered to them.

I'll wait to hear back from the service manager before I call out Assistance, but I am not keen that it may be sat outside in a PC car park while they investigate though......

Oh dear Peter, seems like you don't have the best of luck with your 992's.

The message actually says "Switch off ignition" not engine. Assume you have tried switching the ignition off then back on again.

Put the transmission in Park. Try firing up the engine and selecting forward, reverse; also select each of the different engine modes in turn to see if that clears it. Try manoeuvring the car forwards a few metres, then in reverse.

Good luck.

Thanks Clive. Yes I meant to type ignition not engine - now rectified.

I have tried several times now and moved it too but the message is still there.

I spoke to the PC later this morning and as I am loath to send it via transporter to them, I have asked if they can send out a technician with a PIWIS to see if really does need a workshop investigation.

There is a thread on an AUDI forum Peter...... LINK HERE

It has the same Error message and gives a suggestion that it could be Low Coolant Flow because of a Thermostat problem.....

ALSO....

On Rennlist there is a posting which mentions the door being open, sounds crazy really but ????!!!!!! LINK HERE

Another AUDI forum mentions....

'It appears on the dashboard of certain Audi vehicles. It happens when the driver opens the door while the engine is still running.

The message reminds drivers to turn off the ignition before exiting the car.' LINK HERE

I hope you can get it sorted quickly Peter...

Regards David

Sounds plausible when the door is open.

WARNING- Drive train is active (in gear), switch off ignition ....before getting out.

you domy like your OPC do you..

Thank you for your comments.

Oh I do like my PC but i spent a lot of hard earned on this car (not leased etc) and treat it like a baby and it stays covered in my garage when not in use.

So yes I am wary about leaving it in the rain, snow and ice.

Thanks for the links David.

Here are some potential reasons why you see the warning:

[ul][*]The most common is that the driver forgets to turn off the ignition before they open the door.[*]It can also indicate that the car is still in drive mode and the parking brake is not set.[*]Sometimes the warning appears due to electrical or mechanical system problems. It could be in gear shift, brake system, or low battery.[*]If your car is a push-button start, it may appear when the key fob is not in the car.[*]Or it can be software-related issues such as glitches or the warning system itself.[/ul]Seems like it could be a interesting time ahead!

I'm bee informed that the technician from the PC will be coming out to check out the car this afternoon, hopefully with a PIWIS.

In the meantime I have yet another message appearing:

This is despite the seat being occupied and seat belt firmly closed!!

I had a 2 year service done a few weeks ago and its been in my garage on a CTEK ever since. Maybe a software update caused it?

Hey ho. I'll keep you posted.

Any news regarding the error messages Peter?
The technician came out and counted the PIWIS and both faults were there. He then opened and closed the doors and Targa top (as I had done a few times) and the Drive System is Active warning light disappeared.

He cleared the seatbelt fault and that was it. Both faults gone.

A 10 minute job on his way home, so he got home early too and miss the heavy traffic!

Certainly better than having it transported to the PC, and waiting for them to sort it out.

Great service by PC Preston.
