Anyone heard of or bought a car from drivenimage?

Interested in the car above but does the S look like its original? Words say it is an S but the S badge looks a different colour to the carrera badge and hence doesnt look too clever to me. Thats not normal, is it?

Also what is the circle that is popped out on the front near the number plate? Is that where a towing hook is fitted? Why might it not be properly seated? Any theories?

You have the option of photographing your car in the sun or the shade - why choose the shade? Sunlight is great for detecting re-sprayed panels - but this could be just that someone isn't bothered about the quality of the pictures (or rather that they are bothered that the quality isn't too good)

The pop out on the front bumper is for the tow hook that screws in.

Not too sure about the colour of the "S" badge. That could be how they all are...?

S bit doesn't look normal but no accounting for taste, could have painted it.

I am always wary of a non Porsche specialist car, some of the listed so called options are standard on an S..... Straight away it makes you wonder if they know how to look after the car or spot any problems......

The S is definitely not like the one on my car. And I'd certainly have a worry that the tow hook has been used - so ask.

The other factor is that these cars have a 2 year 20k servicing interval. As such it is possible that an 06 plate with 40k on the clock has had just one service; hence don't be immediately taken in by the FPSH! (i noticed that they had another 997 where they said that the 40k service had just been done). I'd definitely want to see ALL the bills and not just the service stamps.

Remember buyer beware!

My "S" is the same colour as the rest of the Carrera badge.
However, I think I am right in saying that only the S's had the 3.8 engine. So as long as it is 3.8 it probably is an S.

If I remember correctly, I think that for S models the boot designation badge is in 'Titanium' coloured script (which the 'S' appears to be) and on the base 3.6 Carrera the badge was black/anthracite. It could be that the original 'Carrera' script has got broken (sometimes when washing it can catch) or maybe some oik pinched it.
So, perhaps the Carrera is a replacement badge but for a 3.6, not a 3.8S? An enthusiast would have noticed this, so that would set a bell ringing for me.
Either way, I would have the car thoroughly checked over by an independent specialist and speak with the OPC in the service book to see what work has been carried out and any problems.
FWIW I think you could pick up an S for not much more money from and OPC which would give me more peace of mind.
Caveat Emptor and all that!
Good luck.
