Driver Airbag contact unit

Since changing to a three spoke wheel, I have started to get the airbag light coming on and having to have it reset (unrecorded fault). I have removed the wheel to check the contacts, but the fault persists. I have now bought a new airbag contact unit from Ebay (sounded cheap @ £10 so I took a punt) and my question after the event is this: is the unit 996 652 211 00 compatible with my MY98 C2.
