Driver side window not working correctly Boxster 986 (2002 model)

I have a problem with my drivers door window that when I pull on the handle the window drops but then immediately returns to the fully closed position when the handle is released making closing the door difficult. I am having to drop the window once inside with the ignition on then close the door and then close the window. It is also affecting the central locking security as I have found the window drops for no reason by 3mm and the system senses this and sets off the alarm. I have checked inside the door thinking water had got in but it is bone dry. Is it a micro switch issue or something to do with the window regulator.?

Trev,

Probably I'd favour the regulator, but your guess is as good as mine and unfortunately the only way to get a definitive answer is to run some Porsche-specific diagnostics ... and a micro-switch is going to be much cheaper than a window regulator!

This article may be useful for some initial checks, and if the other window is working maybe you could try swapping a few components?

Thankyou Jeff for that quick response, I have read the link you attached and it appears that the regulator is the faulty part. I will go and price one up. thanks Again.
