I'm looking into a driver training day for the summer, has anyone had a one to one, how much would I be looking to pay approx and where?

Laster summer in my C2 I had a day with Bernard Aubry down in Chichester. He is located only 20mins from Goodwood
This was a full day of driver training a lot of time was spent on road craft which I would say is similar to Advance driving techniques, then we spent a good hour on a track I think it was Chobham. Bernard is a ex Porsche demonstater driver. The track session was realy good I experienced at my request lift off over steer not on the circuit but in a designated skid area. Bernard provided lunch at a local golf course, there is a discount of £50 if you are a PCGB member. so the day cost me £450.www.bernardaubry.com/courses.shtm

You can book a Controlled Driving session at the Silverstone circuit.(drivingexperience@porsche.co.uk) Sessions are approximately 2hrs. I am lead to beleive that 1 1/2hrs of that is driving, 1/2 hr for briefing. You can take the session in one of their cars or in your own. In your own car, cost is £225. The session can be tailored to your needs and designed to focus on a particular type of driving, model of Porsche or driving environment.

I did this a couple of years ago:

http://www.driverdp.com/

It's run at Prodrive's test facility in the midlands and involves a high speed track (at one corner you can get the car drifting at 100 mph), a tight handling circuit (3rd gear maximum) and a low grip circuit (skid control). You get two sessions on each with an instructor at your side. Cost was about £230 which included a nice lunch.

I would do it again. A group booking of 12 or more would get us a discount. They only run them on weekdays normally and drivers have to be aware that cars will be noise tested (I think 105 db is about the maximum allowed).

Give big John Cave a call at http://www.drivetrain.uk.com/

best days out i've had in a car - absolutely fantastic day (approx 5-6 hours) in the Oxfordshire countryside. Broken down into approx 40 minute driving sessions, with reveiews, discussions and learning whilst supping a coffee. John really makes you feel at ease, although his jokes aren't always the best !

Paid about £280, that was discounted rate via another forum a few years ago - guess you'll be looking nearer £325 now.

John also uses Prodrives ground from time to time, dependent upon numbers involved.

I Like the idea of part road and part track training as I would feel safer pushing my car that little bit further on a track to find the limit.
I also have to think that i'm in the south so somewhere within 100miles of Berkshire. I do like the sound of Bernard Aubry's training day but a little too expensive.
Thanks for the suggestions and I will keep you posted nearer the time.

I've used Anthony Dunn, of Iwannagofaster.com. Great instructor, does all sorts of cars, but very at home in 911s. Will do circuit work, and limit control. Capable of doing all levels, so club racers through to trackday novices. Very competitive rates too!
