Hi,

I've had an invite to a driving day at Porsche silverstone, I was wondered what can I expect from the day? and should I wait for better weather? or go now!

Cheers

Neil

I'd take the invitation, you'll spend time on the Ice hill which is wet anyhow...
You'll probably learn more in a wet condition than a dry day...
Watch the videos on you tube, it gives a good idea of what is on offer at the driving centre...

But if you want a free afternoon been thrown around a track, then Yes wait until its better weather..

Thanks Gary, well I've been thrown about the west circuit at Bedford a few times and thrown the instructor around as well! So I'm really after tips and instruction on how to get the best from the 911 handling wise they have offered me dates from Feb through to June, I guess with the low grip conditions on offer at the moment it might be better to go now so I can have a go at hanging its back side out....

I need to get some training in before I next see Mr Funnell and his Targa 4s as he knows those Kent country roads too well! [:D]

And hopefully they will have a turbo for me to have a go in! fingers crossed.........

I think you've answered your own question, go now hopefully the track will be moist and be prepared to be surprised how well these Porsches hang on in the wet even if they are approaching the end of tread wear indicators. Plus as Gart says you'll get excellent instruction on the low grip surfaces. Arrive early and have an excellent lunch you could say its the best Spa day for Boys (ahem! and Girls).

My driving experience was in September some nine months after purchase of my 997C2s PDK, however if had waited untill November there would have been the opportunity to select a day where one could extend the session with a 45 minute blast around the Racing Circuit, for an additional £175.00 worth considering. If you choose an early slot in February there is a better chance of the Silverstone Circuit being available.

Thanks John, perhaps I should give them a call and see what the best dates are...I like the sound of getting on the the GP circuit.

Oh and I love the colour of your 911 rather wish mine was Red!

As far as I'm aware the outing on the main circuit may not be available due to the current building work taking place- so certainly worth the call to the centre first...

Wills, If you're out with Mr Funnell, best of luck [:)] he's quick enough on the roads that he doesn't know [8D]

All I can say is every time I see him he out drives me and then out drinks me! [:-]
