h every
my first post in this site so i would grateful to hear from all you experts out there.

my problem is I have two keys which fit the ignition, boot and drivers door. I have a sigma alarm kit (fitted by previous owner). I set the alarm but the drivers door will not lock. If i put either key in the door it will not turn either way. problem is as the door is not locked I can open it and the alarm goes off. after several presses of the alarm thob button the alarm shuts up [:)]. but i cannot drive the car because it is immobilized []

I think because the drivers door latch is locked in the up position this is causing the alarm to be armed all the time. does this mean the lock is busted or do you think i can fix it by opening the panel and somehow manually moving the door lock latch into the down or up position (sorry for the poor English explanation).also the inside round door openning thing will not turn left or right.....please help as i cannot driver her[:(]

Dont know much about 928s but 944s have a small plastic clip in the door which fails.

Another thought is if either key is the correct one for the door locks as they are not turning.

I would take the door card off and see what is and isn't connected.

I don't know the solution but what I do know is that on my 928 (GTS with Porsche alarm):

- you could lock/unlock the car with one turn but it required several (I think 3) turns to turn the alarm on or off. I mostly used the remote though.
- whether you used the key or the remote locking/unlocking would do both doors simultaneously .
- my keys worked all the locks (doors, hatch..)
Hope the info is of some use.

Good luck!

ok i figured out the drivers door barrel is not the original. so luckily porsche still have the barrel for my car for sale so i'm buying it only then will i be able to check if the door latch works and see if i need to take the door panel off.
I managed to stop the alarm from disabling the car. It was a bit of luck actually. I jiggled the door latch up and down as far as it could go. Turned the door latch release left and right ( it did not move much) and then the door handle I held up (which is loose when you lift it) and moved the latch down as far as it could go. thats it it worked :) i can set the alarm and disable it again........but i still cannot lock the door as the barrel is busted. I'll let you know what happens when it comes in as i will need some help fitting it.

A question though if both door lack barrels are loose and not tight against the body of the car. is something broke/ loose/ missing inside that i need to buy or check to secure it.

ahhh dammmm
its the barrel.. i'm not to good at fixing these so i luckily car buy the replacement from porsche. thanks though

bought a new one and had austec racing fit it for me. I also now have 4 keys [:)] I initially ordered another key to make sure if the barrel was correct. then when i ordered the new barrel it came with a key!!!!

ahhh well
