drivers door wont open from the outside

hi,

my drivers door wont open from the outside, and it is locked.
but when I am inside it is unlocked and I can open/close it no problem.

I took it apart and it looks like something has snapped.
Has anyone else had the same problem? If so, how did you get it resolved?
I'm thinking it could take a garage quite a while to fix it.

the arm or brown clip on the handle mechanism has either snapped or come off. On the earlier cars not a problem to remove handle and replace (just tricky snapping clip back on. on later cars the door is constructed differenty and makes removal tricky but can be done with patience.

Should be a one hour job maximum plus £20 for new arm or £40 for new handle.

Before you go ahead check white retainer held on to inner door with two screw bollts to the left of the handle. if this is snapped then the lever will move and prevent opening also.

hope that helps. call me if you need any help on 07514 944 964

I had this on a 912 and it was the internal lock ( the latch plate inside the door ) a " Cir Clip " had come off
