Drivers mirror glass

So.. having (I think) solved the first issue with my 997 drivers door electrics, I now would like to solve my drivers side door mirror issue. the clever self Dimming stuff on the glass seems to have delaminated and isn't working so at night it's not great to use. I've had a look about on some sites and just want to know if there are any ways other than forking out huge sums to get a drivers side mirror glass part? I guess there are breakers out there but any advice or thoughts would be great. Also is it easy to do yourself?. Thanks!!

No advice for repair, but be cautious about buying new. The design has superseded and looks different - it lacks the rubber lip.

Morning!
I can tell you from (bitter) experience that the mirror is actually pretty easy to remove and replace. Just motor the mirror left or right until it's proud of the mirror casing, then gently pull with your finger until it pops off. My mirror is just electric / heated so has only two connectors but while the auto-dim mirrors (I think) have a multi plug, you could have up to four separate wires so the key is to be VERY careful that you replace each connector on the right terminals.
To refit, it just pops back onto the motor panel case with a little pressure. Make sure you push firmly to engage all the clips or it'll fall out.
I got my mirror from eBay and it was a genuine part as advertised. Unfortunately a dimming mirror is going to add a significant cost, but could be better than going to an OPC and paying through the nose.
Example - my N/S Mirror Glass was about £25, but Porsche wanted almost £130!

I've bought one without the dimming function for £25 and without the lip. Prefer this look. Hope it fits. If it does Ill replace the passenger side. I find pulling out without the dimming function easier at night and don't drive lots after dark anyway as its a weekend car so prefer this solution. Thanks for the help.

Hi, where did you get this one from, was the connector correct without the dimming function and was it assemetric with the divided bit on the end. Cheers

Hi. Looks like a diff connector. Maybe even some soldering? I'm going to have a better look tomorrow. Will feed back once done. Size Looks fine and prefer without the rim. easy to pop the current one out but was dark so ran out of time. Watch this space!
