Driveshaft....still

Hi all. Thanks for the advice on the previous posting but 3 hours with a lump and sledge hammer after 36 hours and 3 applications of duck oil and some heat for good measure the wheel side driveshaft will still refuse to come off.
Would I be right in thinking that if I removed the wheel hub, I could get access to the end of the shaft and knock it towards the G/Box to disl-lodge it. Have threatened to torch it tonite! (I get like that when I've been frustrated for hours)
Help!

I have only ever taken the driveshafts out by taking the undoing the hub nut and unbolting at teh gearbox end, but then I have never had to replace an outer CV joint!

So, yes, I know you can remove the drive shaft in that way, but... the torque necessary to undo the hub nut is huge. You can easily break a 1/2" drive socket/breaker bar on it, and the real problem is stopping the wheel from turning (on the ground and handbrake won't usually do it - getting some-one in the car standing on the footbrake usually will).

Tref.

As a last resort you could put the bolts back in slightly loose. Put the hand brake on, start the car and rock it backwards and forwards on the clutch.
Not ideal but it should break it free.
