It's the end of January, and I've now owned my 993 for about 10 months. And I'm getting frustrated. I love the car, but my frustration is borne from not using it enough, on the right type of roads, often enough to really say that I'm really having fun with it. I don't know if others out there feel the same, but the whole point I got the thing was to drive it (surely the essence of Porsche ownership), but the routine of real life is getting in the way and I need excuses to get out and do some quality miles. My question therefore is - does anyone else feel the same? And if so, would you like to have more excuses to get out in your car? If it's yes to that, then do you think we could organise something through the Region - say three or four informal driving events through the spring and summer?

Fab - just a suggestion and I hope it's welcome (or if I've missed something and there already is an events plan, then please point me in the right direction!).
Anybody else got any views?

Cheers, Craig

The run to Cornbury House every month is a start.
And there are various other runs by PCBG and Pistonheads etc.
Of course, more from the regions always welcome....

Thanks - appreciate your reply. Bit disappointed that no-one else did though. I'll keep an eye open for events but I thought there would be more i n the way of informal drive-outs.

Craig,

I'd be interested in joining a group when my car wakes up from hibernation in April.

I'm in Newbury but happy to explore other parts of the region.

Cheers,

Ian

If you want to use your car the 8th Cotswold Rally is on 22nd April. You can get entry form and regulations from me Geoff Ives on r31@porscheclubgb.com

If you REALLY want to use your car FAST. The 8th Manx Tour is on 18th to 21st May. details, entry form and reports and images of previous Manx events on www.porscheshop.co.uk

Both events are by drivers for drivers.

Sorry I haven't responded sooner but thanks for your comments. Since my last post I've got myself booked on a tour to the Lake District in early May with TIPEC so am looking forward to that (but have been warned that the pace is leisurely...). Still, the journey there and back doesn't have to be!

Goodwood Breakfast Club - definitely up for that and had thought I would at least do the April one (still love old Brit classics) and also the German car specific session in August. Anyone else up for it?

I'll also look up the Cotswold rally but I can't do the Manx tour as I'll be hitting a significant age that weekend and running away from the truth by catching a plane to somewhere hot.

Hopefully hook up with you guys? Do you all go to the monthly meetings or will you be at the OPC tomorrow?

Cheers, Craig

So you are 65. Live with it I shall (soon) [;)][:D]

The Goodwood trip sounds an excellent idea to me too come the good weather (thinking April possibly).

I was at the OPC meet and may have chatted to some of you but didn't catch any names (or reveal my own!)

Will try to make it to the next monthly meet too (although car will still be tucked up then)

Cheers,

Ian
