Dual Mass Flywheel?

Noticed, as I've been getting more into this 968 as compared to the last one, a strange sensation almost akin to a slipping clutch, but not, when changing gear. Seems to have no definate "bite" even at higher rev changes.
It isn't slipping as only changed 10k ago and well, it's not clutch slip.

Is this because the CS had a normal flywheel? According to the spec label my new car is a M44.43 engine so has the dual mass.
I can't find the pic of the old CS spec label so can't check it.

Is this how the dual mass feels? Sort of cushions the gear change?

All 968,s had a dual mass from the factory...
So i cant see what the difference would be. Only "us" track day types fit a single mass flywheel.
They also make the car a lot noisier , well gearbox chatter anyway...[8|][8|]

Your problem, might be that the clutch system might need bleeding or new fluid in...OR your slave cylinder is on its way out...???? Where is the bit point now.??

If its low down, then its a recent clutch. if its half way up or higher then its a older one.[mid life] If its near the top, then its OLD...+ nearly time for a new one...
 
Dave I can't check that yet but I will when I find the spec label for the old CS, but I was under the impression that the CS had a single mass hence the different engine designation on the spec label.
The PET points this out with the different flywheels so if they all had the dual mass why would they show a normal flywheel as well?
Is it an earlier flywheel? Doesn't say CS or M030 next to it though.
Will annoy Ted with it tomorrow when I pop in[;)]

The clutch was replaced not long ago although that means nothing if heavy footed last owner, but it does bite about one third up. May bleed the system this weekend and have a general poke around.

Wheres my 968 wheels I bagsied the other day due to your BMW malarky[;)]

As far as im aware. they ALL have a dual mass...Regardless of CS or not. In fact as far as i was aware ALL the engines were the same aswell...
Only difference with the CS is the lighter body, [ supposedly]..
Like i said. If you fit a single mass then you will get geadox noise. As its the rubber dampner in the DMF that stops the engine pulses from travelling down the torque tube + vibrating the cogs in the gearbox...
 
Found the spec label for the old CS and also dual mass. 44.43 on the sheet.
You are indeed a wise and knowledgeable 968 parts bloke, oh Master of the Big Daves[;)]

So can we buy this single mass wheel and why is it on the PET if never fitted?
Will it save weight and assisit in quicker spin up?
Will I find a problem with the clutch system when I have a poke around at the weekend[&:]

The single mass jobby, may well be a 968 turbo part. Just guessing though....[;)]
They do save weight + let the engine spin up faster,
BUT
theres a trade off. In extra annoying chatter from the torque tube / gearbox + the engine revs drop just as fast as they spin up, so not as good for everyday driving...
I thought this car was a "easy driver" dave.....
Personally i wouldnt fit a single mass one on a road car...ONLY a track biased car....

Simple really. It's the flywheel for the tiptronic car[&:]

Of course if I'd looked at the diagram a little more carefully, I perhaps would have realised that the big holes where the friction face should be is a giveway[:mad:]

Oh well, keeps me amused[;)]

Dave, when do you want me to get all those 968 wheels out the way so you can concentrate on the BM[;)]
