duff battery or ?

Hi all,

seem to be asking a lot of questions, but... []

About a fortnight ago, I managed to flatten my battery while spending all day fitting a new battery..
Got the car started off jump leads, and took it for a long long drive, which seemed to charge the battery up ok.
However, on the drive I got a puncture... so couldnt drive for another week while I sorted it out.

When I came to start the car the next time, as soon as I unlocked it on the keyfob the alarm went off..

There didnt seem to be anyway of stopping the noise ! Short of waiting for it to stop itself..

I figured this must be the battery actually being all but flat, so I disconnected the battery, and charged it overnight...

Next day car and alarm are fine.. Drove the car two days this week, no problems, and it was fine all the way into work this morning, started ok, although it did seem to need a little revs..

Then 5 minutes ago I had to pop out to the car to get something, unlocked it on the keyfob and the alarm is going off again !! []

I've disconnected the battery again, as I'm guessing that must be the problem..

Before I go out at lunchtime and get a new one, ( if i can ! ), am I right or is it something else ?

The current battery is a genune porsche one, no idea how old it is, but given the low milage of my car, ( 32k), I'm figuring its the original..

So, do you think I need a new battery, or is there something worse going on..

And, do you think its worth trying to reconnect the battery and trying to start the car / alarm before I get the new one, or before I charge this one up, given that it seemed fine this morning.

Hmm... I really like my new car, but it seems like everytime I drive it something goes wrong at the moment ! [:(]

Always change the cheapest thing first. It could be the battery or it could be that you not driving the car enough, and getting carried away with all the gadgets in the car [:D].

If possible check that your alternator is charging.....if ok, then replace battery also make sure that connectors are clean i.e. no corrosion. It could also be a faulty alarm that is causing a current drain.
