Duplicate key

Probably a silly question, but is there a cheaper alternative to obtaining a duplicate key than a Porsche main dealer? I see loads of keys on Ebay, but the actual mechanics of how it all works is rather beyond me. Any suggestions?
 
If you just want a spare key for emergencies, you can get a non-remote ('service' or 'valet') key. They are about £60, plus programming.

Buying keys on eBay is a bit dodgy, as if they don't have the bar code label (which contains the security codes) then they are useless. Even if they have the codes, bear in mind you need to take it to a dealer for programming.
 
I got a key from Paragon Porsche in Fives Ashes. Very efficient service and for £170, considerably cheaper than from a Porsche Main Dealer. They programmed it and got fresh blank key cut.

I wouldn't risk ebay either...
