There are a few Chinese clones around, but you have to be careful. Only use the (out-of-date) software they supply with them. If you try to update them with the latest Durametric software it turns them into a brick.

IMO it is best to get the genuine article, as Durametric constantly add features, and provide excellent support.

If you remember I bought one of these fake Durametric kits , unknowingly,of E bay . I have not had any problems so far, as Richard says you cannot update the software but mines a 2001 so it does seem to be OK to date.
It reads live feeds & has diagnosed faulty ASB sensor, Door lock (which is why my alarm used to play up) ,I,m happy with it.

A Durametric cable and software for sale on Pistonheads classifieds with three lives left at £200 might be an option http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2254713.htm
Not sure if it is sold yet or not.

Well, my kit turned up, and it seems it may have been a bad omen - it turns up at the weekend and my car develops a fault! Typical!

Seems like good bit of kit from what I have used so far - will update with further info when I have some time.

The durametric like other emulators can only clear basic faults and give read outs for the DME live data. The cost IMHO is excessive for what is effectively a pc based code reader , especially when generic pc based code readers sell for around 50 pounds. I bought a pc based coded reader and software from a singapore seller over the net for around 50 USD delivered. I'm happy with hte functionality and price. If you need to re code or investigate more , there are PWIS emulators available now for as little as 600 USD , that run the full software. Enthusiasts versions of any software are always limited , full support and updates of the latest PWIS cost thousands per year.
